Reports are starting to circulate on the internet that Samara Weaving, fresh off her casting in X-Men, is joining the upcoming Legend of Zelda Movie.
Whilst none of this is currently confirmed, Industry Insider The Beyond Reporter (via The Tech Times) has claimed that Weaving will be in the film, which wrapped shooting back in April. Previously, the only confirmed cast members were Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link, but more castings have slowly begun to leak, including the news that the late Sam Neill would feature. Neither Nintendo nor Sony Pictures has confirmed the casting, but one report claims she’s playing the Goddess Hylia.

Other additions confirmed recently to be joining the cast include Dichen Lachman, known for her role in Severance, as well as Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaids Tale). According to the original report from Deadline, Strahovski is playing a ‘Queen Character’ whereas Lachman is playing Impa, the bodyguard and advisor to Zelda. Although it’s worth noting that these are currently unconfirmed.
The Legend of Zelda franchise, created by Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, follows Link and Princess Zelda as they fight to save the land of Hyrule from Ganon, an evil warlord-turned-demon king. Since its launch in 1986, the franchise has sold over 150 million units making it one of the biggest game franchises of all time. Miyamoto and Avi Arad are set to produce the film, with Wes Ball (Planet of the Apes) directing.
The Legend of Zelda is scheduled to release in cinemas on April 30th 2027.
