Marvel Studios has released the second trailer for their upcoming film, Avengers Doomsday, on Friday at D23.
The two-minute clip sees Vanessa Kirby‘s Sue Storm, previously seen in Fantastic Four: First Steps, warning the Avengers about the danger of Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr) in between cuts focused on Doom’s costume. “I knew he was lost,” Storm says. “But I did not realise that he was broken.”

It’s widely believed to be very similar to the one shown last month during Marvel Studios’ Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, which wasn’t released online. We also see Pedro Pascal‘s Reed Richards confronting Doom, as well as Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor. Interestingly, the trailer has opened up new fan theories about whether Robert Downey Jr is actually playing Doctor Doom like previously announced. There’s been debate about whether the character has the same colour eyes as the actor, with many questioning if it’s a fake-out from Marvel to bring in fans.
Despite limited story build-up in-universe for the film, there is a huge amount of hype for the release, with many hoping that Marvel continues their momentum after the massive success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. As well as the previously mentioned cast, the film also includes virtually every actor/actress that’s appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far, with the likes of Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, Letitia Wright, Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddleston, Simu Liu and more all expected to reprise their roles. It will also mark the first official debut for several of Fox’s past X-Men stars, such as James Marsden as Cyclops.
Avengers: Doomsday releases December 18th.
