The latest trailer has been released for The Social Reckoning, the long awaited sequel to the Oscar-nominated The Social Network.
The film is said to be inspired by the true story of how Frances Haugen (Mikey Madison), a young Facebook engineer, enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allen White), a Wall Street Journal reporter, to blow the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets also known as ‘The Facebook Files’.

It is described as more of a companion piece to The Social Network, compared to a direct sequel, with Jeremy Strong replacing Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg. It was reported previously that Eisenberg was offered the role but rejected it after being tired of being associated with Zuckerberg. The exciting cast also features Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen and Bill Burr. With Aaron Sorkin taking over Directing duties from David Fincher (whilst also staying on as writer). The exec producers on the project are Lauren Lohman, Roger McNamee, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Broderick Johnson, and Andrew A. Kosove.
It will be interesting to see the reaction gets when it’s released, with the world viewing Facebook considerably different compared to when the first film out. As we speak, Meta, the company who own Facebook, have just settled an $18bn (£13.3bn) settlement with nearly every US state over their children protection measures. That being said, the first film received huge amounts of praise and there will be a lot of expectation from fans for The Social Reckoning to be the same standard.
