After its extremely popular first season, it is being reported by Variety that Amazon has renewed Neagley, the Reacher spin-off, for Season 2.
According to the streaming service, the first season has reached 40 million viewers in the first 13 days since it debuted on September 16th (the same day as the Season 4 Reacher finale). It’s worth noting that it’s unclear how they calculate viewership. Amazon have also claimed that it’s the number four most-viewed original series debut in Prime Video history, which is an extremely impressive stat.
The debut season follows Neagley, played by Maria Sten, as she learns that a beloved friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident, so she soon becomes hell-bent on justice. The cast for Season 1 also includes Greyston Holt, Adeline Rudolph, Jasper Jones, Matthew Del Negro, and Damon Herriman.

Ahead of the first season, we attended a preview event for the show where Sten discussed various aspects of her process for the character and, importantly, how different Neagley is in her own show compared to Reacher.
“I think what did change was understanding how profound her loneliness was — more than anything. I initially thought she’d chosen to be this way because she can control this, and that’s how she feels safe because of this trauma. But I think when we meet her in this show, she’s more isolated, and really not comfortable with her situation, but doesn’t know how to do anything about it. She’s kind of lying to herself. That’s an interesting starting place, and that’s what we’re exploring in the show.”
All eight episodes of Neagley are on Amazon Prime Video from September 16th.
