Last week, a brand new trailer for Amazon MGM Studios‘s upcoming film Madden, starring Nicolas Cage, was released online.
The film will see Cage suit up as the NFL legend, known by younger fans as the face of the video game franchise, as he becomes the coach of the Oakland Raiders with the help of his longtime friend Al Davis (Christian Bale). David O. Russell directs it and also features the likes of Kathryn Hahn, Sienna Miller, John Mulaney, and Shane Gillis as part of the ensemble cast.
“Accepting the role to play this larger-than-life legend has been a highlight for me,” Cage says in the promotional video released alongside the date announcement. “John Madden didn’t just coach football. He changed the game.” He adds, “His humanity was present in everything he did, including his unwavering love of family and his lifelong partnership with best friend Al Davis. John’s passion, joy and the impact he had through his zest for life and humanity were immense.”
