According to Deadline, the writing room for Only Murders In The Building, the Hulu mystery comedy series, is moving ahead of a potential seventh season.
Sources have told the outlet that although the seventh season has yet to be confirmed, they are looking to move to New York for an in-person room led by co-creator, executive producer and showrunner John Hoffman. The reason for this is likely due to the complex logistics of the sixth season shooting in London. Historically, the show would be written in Los Angeles before Hoffman would go to New York for filming. However, because the London shoot only wrapped last week, timelines have become much tighter to meet their goal of a yearly release.

In order to get the new season ready for late 2027 or early 2028, it looks likely that writing and filming would have to overlap, which apparently led to the decision to move the writers’ room to New York, allowing an easier way for Hoffman to juggle writing and production. So far, the show has done a really good job of maintaining a yearly release, with the longest wait being 15 months between seasons five and six. It is widely believed that the show will get renewed for the extra season given its regular praise amongst fans and critics alike.
Steve Martin and Hoffman created Only Murders in the Building. The duo executive-produces Season 6 alongside Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Dan Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal, Ben Smith, Jennifer Crittenden & Gabrielle Allan.
