D23 took place this past weekend, and Disney used it to announce a huge amount of news and updates. The only problem was there were so many that it would have been easy to miss some! So, here are four things which we think you might have missed.
- The Live Action Tangled remake has been in and out of development since 2024, but it’s now locked in for March 31st 2028. Filming is currently underway in Spain, with the first official footage being shown to the D23 audience, featuring Teagan Croft in the lead role and Kathryn Hahn stepping out as Mother Gothel. Milo Manheim plays Flynn Rider, with Michael Gracey directing from a script by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and Michael Montemayor.
- There was confirmation over that weekend that Angel, Stitch’s pink counterpart and love interest, is officially part of the sequel to the live-action remake of Lilo and Stitch. Chris Sanders, who co-directed the original animated film and voices Stitch. It’s arguably the most successful remake yet, with the first film cruising past $1 billion at the Box Office. It’s due to be released on May 28th 2028.

- We also heard the first details about Coco 2, with Miguel returning as a teenager alongside a revenge-seeking Ernesto De La Cruz (Benjamin Bratt). This film has caused ripples in the online community, with some excited to further explore the world, whereas others are questioning the need for a sequel. It’s currently set for November 2029, with Lee Unkrich returning to direct alongside Adrian Molina.
- Finally, Pixar showed off its concept art for the upcoming third The Incredibles movie, whilst confirming it’ll round out the trilogy. Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack are moving into the lead roles this time as they fight crime without their parents’ knowledge. Interestingly, Pete Docter described the antagonist as more powerful than the entire family combined. That film arrives June 16th 2028.
It’s always fascinating to see announcements about films that won’t come out for a few more years, but that’s D23 in a nutshell. Although you can’t watch any of these films yet, there’s definitely plenty of exciting titbits in there that are working keeping an eye on over the next few years as more details start to get released!
