Apple TV is currently in talks with Legendary Television about a potential third season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, but with a slightly different production team.
Sources have revealed to Variety that multiple individuals have been approached about taking over as showrunner, and new writers will also be brought on board. The third season will reportedly feature a different set of Titans from Legendary’s ‘Monsterverse‘.
The first season debuted on Apple TV in 2023, followed by a second season in February 2026. Both seasons received generally positive reviews. Cast members include Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons and Mari Yamamoto, as well as father-son duo Kurt and Wyatt Russell, who play the older and younger versions of the same character.

Monarch was originally created by Matt Faction and Chris Black, with the latter serving as showrunner and executive producer on the show’s second season. Other executive producers include Jen Roskind, Matt Shakman, Lawrence Trilling and Andrew Colville, as well as Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures. The producers representing Toho Co., Ltd. – the owners of the character of Godzilla – are Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita.
There is currently a spinoff series in the works starring Wyatt Russell. Set in 1984, the show will follow a young Col. Lee Shaw on a mission to prevent the Soviets from unleashing a terrifying new Titan and turning the tide of the Cold War. Joby Harold will serve as showrunner.
Neither the spinoff nor the third season has been given a release date yet.
