Lionsgate has released the latest trailer for The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping, starring Joseph Zada as a young Haymitch Abernathy.
Based on the latest Suzanne Collins novel, the film takes place twenty-four years before the events of the beloved Hunger Games trilogy, starting on the morning of the Second Quarter Quell. It is the second spin-off from the Katniss Everdeen story to hit the big screen after The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes was released in 2023.
The trailer features intriguing moments, including a young Plutarch Heavensbee (Jesse Plemons) in District 12, where he meets Haymitch for the first time during the reaping of the tributes. We also see moments within the Games themselves and Abernathy’s initial interactions with Snow. Fans will be eager to learn more about Haymitch’s story, having followed him through the original set of films as he mentored Katniss through the 74th Hunger Games and beyond. He was originally played by Woody Harrelson.
