Peter Claffey, best known for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, has reportedly been cast as Hank McCoy, aka Beast, in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot.
Nothing is confirmed yet. Marvel hasn’t commented so take it with a pinch of salt for now but it follows rumours that first surfaced back in April, when Charles Melton reportedly left the project to star in the live-action Naruto film. If the report from Knight Edge Media is true, Claffey will be the latest actor to take on the blue-furred mutant. Kelsey Grammer played Beast in the earlier X-Men films and is set to return in Avengers: Doomsday, while Nicholas Hoult played a younger version of the character in the prequel series.

Assuming he’s confirmed in the role, Claffey will join a star studded line up. Christopher Abbott is playing Professor Charles Xavier, with Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops and Samara Weaving as Emma Frost. Star of Obsession Inde Navarrette is Rogue, Asa Germann is Angel and Maya Boyd is Storm, while Adam Driver is set to play the main villain, Mister Sinister. Production is expected to start in early 2027.
At this stage, it’s unclear what the story is going to be, especially with Doomsday yet to take place. With Abbott clearly in the dark as much as the rest of us. He recently told Entertainment Tonight that he still hasn’t seen a script. “I haven’t read anything yet. Nothing, I’m not even being coy,” he said. “But I’m excited to work with Jake Schreier, I think he’s a great director, and that cast is really good. I can’t wait. I love X-Men.”
