According to Deadline, Warner Bros. is developing a live-action The Flintstones movie with Ryan Gosling producing.
Although details of the plot aren’t public at this stage, the report states that the film would centre on a grown-up Bamm-Bamm Rubble, son of Barney Rubble. The Flintstones was originally a 1960s animated series from Hanna-Barbera before being adapted into numerous different pieces of media over the years that followed. We’ve seen two live-action movies, 1994’s The Flintstones and 2000’s The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas, which featured different casts but did fairly well at the Box Office comparatively. We’ve also seen follow-up TV series such as The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show, which aired on CBS from 1971 to 1972 and focused on teenage versions of the characters.

The report also says that Gosling will be producing the film with his Open Invite partner Jessie Henderson, who are currently working together on Love of Your Life from director Rachel Morrison. The duo are currently looking for a writer for the Flintstones project.
It comes at a busy time for Gosling, who is fresh off Project Hail Mary, a massive success for Amazon MGM Studios. He has just been announced as teaming with director Shawn Levy on the upcoming movie Star Wars Starfighter, as well as Marvel Studios’ 2028 reboot of Ghost Rider. He is also currently in talks with Warner Bros about the rumoured sequel to Barbie, which grossed $1.44 billion and became the studio’s highest-grossing movie of all time. It remains to be seen at this stage if that project will reach the light of day.
