The upcoming live-action adaptation of Scooby-Doo from Netflix has added Andre “3000” Benjamin and Cathy Moriarty in recurring roles.
They are joining the show, officially titled Scooby-Doo: Origins, which is currently being filmed in Atlanta and is due to premiere in 2027. The main cast, aka The Mystery Inc., will consist of Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones, Tanner Hagen as Norville “Shaggy” Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley, and McKenna Grace as Daphne Blake. Sara Gilbert, Bruce McGill, Sherilyn Fenn and Paul Walter Hauser are also set to appear in roles that are not currently announced.

The show is a modern reimagining of the beloved cartoon, which was first created in 1969 by Hanna-Barbera and CBS. It’s since been adapted numerous times into various iterations, including live-action movies and spin-offs. This reimagining follows old friends Shaggy (Hagen) and Daphne (Grace) as they are embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely, lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Together with Velma (Fortson) and Freddy (Jenkins), they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.
Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg serve as the writers, showrunners and executive producers. With André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Adrienne Erickson under their Midnight Radio banner also executive producing alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman via Berlanti Productions. Toby Haynes directs the first episode. Warner Bros. Television will produce. Berlanti Productions is currently under an overall deal at WBTV.
