Far Cry, a beloved video game series, is getting a TV show adaptation from FX, and in doing so, it’s building out an unbelievable-looking cast.
I didn’t see this at the time, but the series was first reported to be on its way in November 2025 by Noah Hawley and Rob Mac (formerly McElhenney, who will also star). Although exact plot details are being kept under wraps, we do know that the series will follow an anthology format, similar to the games, and feature a different cast and setting each season. It’s been previously announced that Lizzy Caplan and Steve Buscemi are part of the show; however, Variety has learnt about some brand new additions.

According to the report, Brendan Gleeson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Hamish Linklater, Sam Spruell and Jamie Demetriou are all set to appear in the first season of the series. It’s looking to be a really interesting lineup, and it will be fun to see the characters they end up playing. I thought Linklater in particular was really good in Gen V, and who can forget Gleeson’s performances in the original Harry Potter franchise?
At the time of the initial announcement, Mac said, “Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realised. Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX family continues to lift me with their constant belief and support.”
Far Cry will air on FX, Hulu, and Disney+ internationally. Mac will executive produce under his More Better Productions banner, while Hawley will executive produce under his overall deal with FX and Disney Entertainment Television via 26 Keys.
