The epic trailer for Children of Blood and Bone, from Director Gina Prince-Bythewood, has been released online.
It’s set in the epic fantasy world of Orïsha and follows a young woman who goes on a quest to reclaim the magic that was violently stolen from her people. In order to do this, she allies with her brother and the daughter and son of the king to fight back against his brutal rule. It features an unbelievable cast including Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris, Amandla Stenberg, Tosin Cole, Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, Zackary Momoh, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Regina King, Idris Elba and Viola Davis.

The story is based on the novel by Tomi Adeyemi, which debuted at number one on The New York Times Best Seller list for young adult books. Adeyemi continued the series with The Children of Virtue and Vengeance in 2019 and before concluding the trilogy with The Children of Anguish and Anarchy in 2024. Prince-Bythewood wrote the screenplay alongside Adeyemi. Interestingly, Adeyami has since distanced herself from the adaptation.
The film is produced by Wyck Godfrey, John Fischer, Isaac Klausner, Karen Rosenfelt, Matt Jackson, with Jeff Waxman, Jennifer Madeloff, Tomi Adeyemi, Reggie Rock Bythewood, Marty Bowen, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, Andrew Lary, Sophie Cassidy, Zack Conroy executive producing. Tems has also been announced as the Executive Music Producer of the soundtrack with Burna Boy as the Executive Music Consultant. Their music can be heard within the trailer.
Children of Blood and Bone releases to cinemas in January 2027.
