This weekend at D23, Disney has revealed the first details about Frozen 3, the latest film in the beloved franchise.
For now, the plot is still being kept a secret, but we do know that the film revolves around Anna (Kristen Bell) and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) getting married. We’ve also seen that a new villain will be introduced, and a love interest for Olaf (Josh Gad) named Samantha. Of course, the film will be set in the beautiful fictional land of Arendelle, and Elsa will appear (once again played by Idina Menzel). Husband-and-wife duo Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez will compose the music for the film (and a rumoured sequel) after serving as songwriters for the first two films.

The first film premiered in 2013 and was co-directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, who co-wrote the film. It’s inspired by The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen and went on to earn $1.3 billion worldwide (with two Oscars won too!). Buck and Lee then returned to helm the 2019 sequel, which brought in an epic $1.45 billion. Fast forward to August 2024, and Disney announces Frozen 3 for the first time, with concept art showing Elsa on a white horse and Anna on a brown stag. By October 2025, Bell told Variety that production was underway and that was our most recent update until this weekend!
The franchise is still incredibly popular, with a stage musical hitting different countries across the world and new rides at the Disney theme parks. We can’t wait to see what’s next!
Frozen 3 will be released on November 24th 2027.
