Spider-Man: Brand New Day has reached the rare benchmark of $2 billion worldwide after an astonishing three weekends of release.
This is an incredible achievement for the film, with reports claiming the film has reached $785 million in North America and $1.13 billion overseas. This makes it the 8th film in history to reach the historic total. Interestingly, it’s the second fastest film to do so after Avengers: Endgame, which took 11 days.

Other films to reach the same historic target are 2009’s Avatar ($2.9 billion), 2019’s Avengers: Endgame ($2.7 billion), 2022’s Avatar: The Way of Water ($2.3 billion), 1994’s Titanic ($2.2 billion), 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($2.07 billion) and 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War ($2.03 billion). It is widely believed that 2021’s No Way Home, the previous film in the Spider-Man franchise, would have also reached this total, but it didn’t play in China (finishing instead at $1.9 billion).
Ahead of release, many thought that the film would do really well, but no one expected it to have the unbelievable impact it’s had on the global box office. It cleared $1 billion worldwide after just six days of release, and has broken numerous records across its run. Some people are even questioning whether it will be the only movie to ever reach $1 billion domestically (with The Force Awakens being the closest at $936 million) or even $3 billion globally. It will also be interesting to see how Avengers Doomsday does comparatively when it’s released later in the year.
