According to Deadline, Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein) has landed his next project, co-starring opposite Scarlett Johansson in Scapegoat.

The plot is currently under wraps, but rumours online seem to think it’s going to be some sort of sci-fi romance, potentially about a doctor who operates on an internet celebrity. It is going to be directed by Ari Aster, and released through A24, who did his past four films. Aster also wrote the script.

This news follows reports earlier in the year that this would be Aster’s next film, his first since Eddington. It wasn’t long after the project first surfaced that Johannsson was cast in the lead role. Attention soon pivoted to who would join her in the film, with Aster meeting several actors. The report seems to suggest, however, that Aster only wanted Elordi, who was having a break after a busy few years. It appears he has got his man, though, with negotiations starting last week ahead of a plan to shoot later this year.

Elordi has had a pretty successful period recently, receiving his first Oscar nomination for his role in Frankenstein, as well as starring in the hit adaptation of Wuthering Heights alongside Margot Robbie. He is next set to appear in the action-thriller The Dog Stars, from Ridley Scott, which will also feature the likes of Margaret Qualley and Josh Brolin.

We will confirm more when we have it!

We believe what actually happened rarely matters as much as what it felt like to sit there and watch it. A film can tick every technical box and still leave you cold. Another can be a total mess and somehow be one of the best nights you’ve had all year. We’re more interested in focussing on the second one.
