Netflix has officially confirmed that The Inbetweeners reunion movie has started production, with the original cast all returning.
There have been rumours about a revival for months, with fans incredibly excited to see the return of the popular coming-of-age sitcom. It follows the misadventures of Will McKenzie (Simon Bird) and his friends Simon Cooper (Joe Thomas), Neil Sutherland (Blake Harrison) and Jay Cartwright (James Buckley), with all four of the cast returning. It’s unclear if any beloved characters are returning. As part of the announcement, Netflix have released a first look at the cast in their reprised roles more than 15 years after they last appeared on screen. It shows them getting into the battered yellow 1996 Fiat Cinquecento Hawaii edition car given to Simon by his parents after he passes his driving test in series one. The show originally debuted on Channel 4.

There are currently no details on the storyline for the characters, but there is reason to be optimistic with creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris returning to write and direct the comedy. It will be produced by Claire Jones alongside Banijay’s Patrick Holland and Fudge Park Production’s Mark Lesbirel. The confirmation comes after speculation began when Banijay CEO Holland talked about a potential return last October.
“It’s been super-fun hanging out with our friends again, and we’re going to work hard every week to ensure no problems are making this new film for humans,” said Beesley and Morris, who are executive producing alongside Caroline Levy, Caroline Leddy, Phil Gilbert, Suzanne Knight, Tom Jordan and Farhana Bhula.
