News broke last night that the next season of Daredevil: Born Again will be its last, with Marvel Studios appearing to move away from Television from now on.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news first, with other outlets reacting fairly soon after. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster time for fans of the franchise, with it originally being on Netflix from 2015 to 2018 until it was rebooted for Disney+ a few years later. It’s hard to tell at this stage what this will mean for the character, with Charlie Cox periodically appearing in character in other media for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, such as She-Hulk and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

The report also broke the news that Marvel has quietly parted ways with showrunner Dario Scardapane. This is particularly unusual given the fact that it’s in the middle of post-production. It’s currently unclear who will see the show through to completion, with it in the final stages of post-production.
It also begs the question about whether Marvel will continue Television shows going forward. They regularly claim that the show has three to five live-action shows in development, but that doesn’t mean those shows will actually happen. Marvel grew to huge popularity with a particular focus on just Film releases, before a shift to juggling Film and Television releases coincided with an overwhelming approach for fans. The news of the end of Daredevil: Born Again also comes after they did not renew Wonder Man despite picking up a second season, emphasising the potential change in approach from the biggest franchise of all time.

Moon knight, spider noir, wonder man and now daredevil. Why are they getting rid of their best shows? 🙁
technically spider noir is different because it’s DC but it’s still a massive shame! fingers crossed something changes!
