MUBI have just released the official trailer for Nicholas Winding Refn’s (Drive) latest film, Her Private Hell, which comes out in the UK later this year.
It stars Sophie Thatcher in the lead role alongside the likes of Charles Melton, Kristine Froseth, Havana Rose Liu and Diego Calva. The film’s synopsis describes the film as following a mysterious mist that engulfs a futuristic metropolis, unleashing a deadly, elusive entity. Not long after, a heinous killer known as Leather Man goes around the city taking the lives of women, and a troubled young woman searching for her father collides with an American GI on a harrowing odyssey to rescue his daughter from Hell.

The film has already received a lot of praise for the inclusion of the Director’s trademark neon cinematography, alongside an intoxicating orchestral score by legendary composer Pino Donaggio. According to reviews so far, the film has been described as a breathtaking, kaleidoscopic experience designed to mesmerise and seduce. It will be the first feature film from Winding Refn after a ten-year sabbatical from directing movies. His last feature was The Neon Demon, a body-horror acid trip starring Elle Fanning, which debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016. He’s since gone on to do a couple of different projects for Television, such as Too Old to Die Young. Executive producers on the project include Takuma Takasaki, Kimberly Willming, Christina Erritzøe, and Lene Børglum.
Her Private Hell is in UK cinemas from September 25th.
