The second season of the acclaimed Saturday Night Live UK has just been announced as returning on the 12th September, with all original cast members returning.

This is really exciting news for those who enjoyed the original season, with not long to go now until it returns. The show will be broadcast live each week and will once again welcome a different celebrity host and musical guest for every episode, alongside topical sketches, live music performances and the iconic Weekend Update segment (which was arguably the highlight of last season). The first six brand-new episodes will air over the course of the last few months of 2026, with new episodes confirmed for early 2027 too.

Interestingly, all 11 members of the inaugural cast are confirmed to be returning, which isn’t always something that takes place in the original version of the show. Those cast members are: Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi and Paddy Young. This is a well-judged decision given the nerves that existed around the show when it first launched. It will be good to see their confidence continue to grow now they’ve found their footing.

There have, however, been one or two changes behind the scenes, with Laura Claxton promoted to Co-Head Writer alongside existing Head Writer Jonno Johnson. Liz Clare returns as Director. Heather MacVean joins as Costume Designer, with Sinead Oldnall heading up the talent team as Director of Onscreen Talent. Lorne continues to serve as Executive Producer alongside James Longman as Lead Producer.

SNL UK returns to Sky and the streaming service NOW on the 12th September with the first six episodes, with additional shows planned in early 2027.
