The first trailer for Season Two of The Paper, a spin-off of The Office, has just been released online by Peacock.
There was a lot of talk around the debut season of the show and whether it would hold up in comparison to the highly beloved original. Critics seemed fairly split on the matter, but in general, fans felt that it was a great start and that it has the same fun spirit. The first season ended with the Toledo Truth Teller winning a host of Ohio journalism awards after editor Ned Sampson (Domhnall Gleeson) took over, and it appears that the second season continues shortly after that.

This season’s logline reads, “Ned searches for a journalistic crusade, coming for a local private club and jeopardising the paper, while he and Mare try to figure out their attraction, Esmeralda struggles to find her place, and the staff gradually mature as reporters.”
The cast of the mockumentary, which is set in the same world as The Office, includes Gbemisola Ikumelo, Eric Rahill, Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Tim Key, Duane Shepard Sr., Alex Edelman and Oscar Nuñez (reprising his popular Office role as Oscar Martinez). Allan Havey, Jon Lovitz, Andy Richter, Lisa Gilroy, Matt Braunger, Toks Olagundoye and Phil Hendrie have been confirmed for guest roles in season two. Co-creators and showrunners Greg Daniels and Michael Koman executive produce alongside Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, and Howard Klein, Ben Silverman and Banijay Americas.
The full season premieres on the 9th of September.
