It was announced at D23 that Jodie Foster and Walton Goggins have joined the cast of Disney‘s next animated movie, Hexed.
The news was announced, along with numerous other exciting announcements, over the weekend to excited fans. The film follows a teenage oddball and her Type A mom, who discovers her weirdness is actually hidden magic, transporting them to a world where magic can run free. Previous cast members announced include Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida Jones. Oscar-winner Foster will play a mischievous witch queen, meanwhile Goggins will play a three-eyed cat called Beef Roger Crummchuk. “It is so much fun to return to Disney because that’s where my career began,” Foster said, referring to her run of films with the studio in the 70s, including Napoleon and Samantha and Freaky Friday.

Josie Trinidad, who was the Head of Story on Ralph Breaks the Internet and Zootopia, makes her directorial debut alongside Jason Hand, who co-directed Moana 2 and was Head of Story on Encanto. Roy Conli and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones will serve as producers.
“Billie’s powers are wonderful, but they invite danger. Her mother gives her a special bracelet [when she’s a child] – it limits her magic, ensuring she will never open another portal and endanger herself again,” Hand previously told CinemaCon. He also noted: “It’s the core of the movie: it’s a mother-daughter love story. Obviously, that means they don’t always start where it feels like they’re in love. I think we all have the experience with our parents where we grow up and we see them first as these superheroes. And then you realise they’re people and they’re fallible.”
Hexed is due to be released in Cinemas on November 25th.
