Disney+ and 20th Television are developing a series based on Rick Riordan’s Kane Chronicles book trilogy, as they continue to expand his epic on-screen mythological worlds.
If it goes to series, it would join Percy Jackson and the Olympians, also based on books by Riordan, on Disney+. The logline for Kane Chronicles reads, “When their father unleashes the god of chaos and vanishes, the estranged Kane siblings must master their inherited Egyptian magic, forge unlikely alliances, and rescue their father before warring gods can wreak havoc on our modern world. I personally think it will make a really exciting series if it pulls through, as I’ve been a fan of all the Rick Riordan books since I was a kid, and I’ve always known in my heart that they would be fun adaptations, so it’s great to see they’re finally happening.

In 2020, Riordan announced that Netflix was planning to develop feature films on the trilogy, but unfortunately the project got stuck in development until it was scrapped in 2024. It feels a lot more positive that Disney+ are involved this time, as Percy Jackson has been a huge hit for them since they first released it, with the second season due to start in November. Riordan is teaming up with Angela Robinson to adapt the books. Robinson is known for being a writer and producer on The L Word and How to Get Away With Murder, whilst also being involved in Wednesday and True Blood. They are also executive producing the project alongside Rebecca Riordan and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Jeremy Bell of The Gotham Group.
